We desire to be a people who are known for the way they care for others and extend the love of Christ to our community. Because we follow Jesus, living on mission to bring righteousness and justice is one of our main goals. As a result, we are involved in our community in many different ways. Several ways we are serving on mission are listed below.

TBC participates in the Judy Midkiff First Fruits program. This program provided fruit to children that may have food insecurity. The church collects fruit and donations for fruit for Elizabeth Scott elementary school. The fruit is placed in the backpacks for children to bring home to eat on the weekend. TBC will be collecting fruit and donations for distribution on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month starting on Thursday, April 14 and again on April 28th. there is a bin near the church office. The church is looking for volunteers to help deliver the fruit to Elizabeth Scott elementary on those dates. If anyone would like to volunteer, or has questions, please contact Pat Savarie 804-338-1303.
One of the ways we support our community is by participating in a program that feeds those who are in need. On weekends, it is difficult for individuals who are food insecure to find the support of programs that run through weekdays. We partner with a group on Chicago Avenue to support individuals on the fifth Sunday of the month, or four times a year.
Our group gathers at 9:30 a.m. to create and pack meals, then drives to Chicago Avenue to distribute the food and minister to individuals in need of a meal.
During COVID, we are only accepting monetary donations. If you would like to donate, you can mail a check to the church or donate online here. Please ensure you put "5th Sunday Mission" on the memo/notes line.
Tomahawk has partnered with Providence Elementary and are now supporting students in need with school supplies, both for back-to-school and throughout the year. Want to be a part? Drop off new school supplies anytime, and we will be sure they get to our friends at Providence! Supplies are needed for virtual learning students, as well as those that are beginning to return to the classroom.
Several time a year, TBC heads out to serve the community as an entire church. Love may come in the form of "blessing bags" for the homeless, a new wheelchair ramp for a family in need, replacing or fixing an AC unit, or taking care of yard work for a member of the community. No need is too great or too small, no helper is too young or too old, and no family is beyond the love of Christ.
Be on the lookout for 2022 dates!
TBC is also collecting items for those in need! Please put them in the bin by the welcome center or in the vestibule, or drop them off during the week with the office administrator. There is also an Amazon wish list available where items can directly be donated. Requested items needed are:
